The Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University is located in Wichita, Kansas. Established in 1974, The Ulrich houses a permanent collection of roughly 7,000 works by major 20th and 21st-century artists. The Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection, one of the top university sculpture collections in the U.S., is spread throughout the campus. The Ulrich’s mission is to expand human experience through encounters with contemporary art, fostering creativity, dialogue, and community connection while serving both the university and the broader public.
With having redesigned their logo just a few years ago, the Ulrich wanted to build upon that equity with an updated, vibrant look within a systematic design toolkit. We introduced an own-able typeface, created a wordmark that instantly identifies the Ulrich, and created a design system around the "U". The toolkit allows the Ulrich in-house design team freedom to create eye-catching marketing materials within a system that is easy to work with.
